Services & Prayer
We are currently operating a limited service pattern whilst the Covid-19 pandemic socialising rules exist. Please check the services and availability either in the news sheet or on the diary page.
Our Regular Church Services are:
8.00am | Sunday – Both Churches | Holy Communion without hymns. Lasts approximately 45 minutes. Includes short talk, prayers and bible readings for the day. Small welcoming congregation. |
9.30am | 1st, 2nd & 4th Sunday at Holy Trinity | A service lasting around an hour. Hymns led by choir and organ, bible readings, sermon, prayers and Holy Communion. Refreshments shared after the service. One-to-one prayer time is also offered after the service. Activities and toys are available in children’s area of church, or after the first hymn children usually leave the main worship to enjoy Children’s Church in the Parish Centre hall (returning before Holy Communion). |
9.30am | 3rd Sunday at Holy Trinity | A service lasting around an hour. Songs are led by a group of singers and a band. We enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere than the other Sundays of the month. The content is largely similar to other 9:30am Holy Communion services but the words are less formal and Holy Trinity Beavers, Cubs and Scouts join us several times a year. Children do not leave for Junior Church on third Sundays. Refreshments are served after the service, with an opportunity for one-to-one prayer at this time. |
10.00am | 1st & 3rd Sunday at St Columba | This informal service does not include Holy Communion. On the first Sunday in the month, worship is led by a band rather than organ-led hymns. |
9.30am | 2nd Sunday at Holy Trinity | Godly Play has a multi-sensory approach to learning. We use a non-teaching method with a story then exploration, with questions and discussion led by the children. There is a free choice of art, play, prayer to provide depth and reflection in every session - with food and squash to finish. It is usually held on the 2nd Sunday of the month, alternating between Holy Trinity and St Columba. Check website diary for details. |
10.00am | 2nd & 4th Sunday at St Columba | A service lasting around an hour. Hymns played on the organ, bible readings, sermon, prayers and Holy Communion. Refreshments shared after the service. One-to-one prayer time is also offered after the service. Activities and toys available in children’s area of church, or after the first hymn children usually leave the main worship to enjoy Children’s Church in a small room at the back of the church building. |
4.00pm | 1st Sunday at Holy Trinity | On 1st Sunday of each month, this informal time of worship for young children and their family/guardians is held in Holy Trinity church. There is a different theme each time, including singing, sharing ideas and an activity making something to take home. Tea is then shared together, finishing sometime after 5pm. |
10.30am | Wednesday at Holy Trinity | Holy Communion without hymns. Lasts approximately 45 minutes. Includes short talk, prayers and bible readings for the day. Small welcoming congregation. |
During the Sunday morning services there are activities and toys available for children. Alternatively children are welcome to stay with their parents in church throughout the service if they prefer.
The first Sunday 10.00am at St Columba and third Sunday 9.30am service at Holy Trinity are more informal, with the music being led by a lively band and the sermon is more child friendly. There is no separate Junior Church at Holy Trinity on these mornings.

9.30am | 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th Tuesdays | A small group meets for prayer every Tuesday. On the 1st Tuesday of each month they gather at the Highlands Road Hub from 9:15-10am. Other Tuesdays they meet in the Chapel area of Holy Trinity Church from 9:30am. We pray for our clergy team, church life, our local community and those we know are experiencing challenging times. Referrals come through the clergy, conversations with church Welcoming team or requests left in the Prayer Box or pinned to the prayer cross in the Church chapel area. |
9.30am | 2nd & 4th Wednesdays | On 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, a small group meet in St Columba to share a short time of Bible study followed by prayer. Prayers include topics arising from the study and also people and issues currently on the minds of the clergy or those in the group. If you would like to ask the group to pray for something in particular, drop a request in the Prayer box in the church or email the Parish office, who will pass your message on to them. |
